Yogyakarta

Osaka City University has concluded an agreement for joint research and academic exchange with Institute Seni Indonesia Yogyakarta and Gadjah Mada University, both of which are known as top universities in Indonesia. UCRC opened a guest house in January 2003. The research introduced into the two universities caught attention; we have cooperated in city cultural research, focusing on Sociology, History, and Geometry. Since January 2003, faculty in UCRC have often visited the Sub-center in Indonesia to carry out joint research. In the meanwhile, UCRC has also invited faculty and younger researchers from the two universities since the summer of 2003. In March 2003, we three universities co-hosted our first symposium in commemoration of the Sub-center establishment. In total, six faculty staff (three from the Graduate School of Literature and Human Science/COE program and two from the universities in Indonesia) made presentations about city cultural research. The symposium was a great success.
